Lifestyle55+ Network Inc., founded by Esther Goldstein and Paul Cutajar, began as a joint venture to create a solution for Canada’s aging population. This venture was born out of Esther and Paul's realization that there was a lack of unbiased, comprehensive information available to seniors navigating housing and service options. With their combined expertise and passion in Social Work, Seniors Real Estate, Consulting, Data Collection, Sales, Marketing and Business Development, they established Canada's largest seniors' housing and services directory through the unique and innovative portal www.SeniorCareAccess.com, which now holds over 6000 indexed results including multiple housing options which can be sorted by care levels, and various services for seniors.
Their journey began with a shared vision to make a tangible difference in the lives of seniors. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by this demographic, they embarked on a mission to create both a platform that offers housing solutions, and a service that provides essential consulting to families, in order to offer a much-needed unbiased service, assisting them to manage and navigate their loved one’s aging challenges.
In addition to their directory, and consulting services, Lifestyle55+ Network Inc. delivers programs that educate, empower, and meet the niche needs of businesses within the industry.
Education and membership: Lifestyle55+ Network Inc. has taken the previous training program known as the Accredited Senior Agent™ which was focused on seniors real estate, redesigned it, and advanced the program, to now be accessible and relevant to all senior-focused businesses. Offering two levels of expertise, it was renamed the Lifestyle55+ Affiliate and Lifestyle55+ MASTERS programs. Professional service providers can gain education and training to work with older adults and remain current through their annual membership as either an Affiliate or a MASTER. Visit www.Lifestyle55Training.com for more information or to register.
Senior Community 3D Virtual Tours: Lifestyle55+ recognizes the challenges families experience when considering moving a loved one to a retirement community or assisted living. One of the challenges is the reluctance of many seniors to recognize their needs, and what is available in a retirement setting, and to book an in-person tour or meeting with community staff. With technology, we can deliver unique and immersive experiences using 3D virtual tour technology, allowing families to virtually tour a property at their own pace and gather the information necessary to move through the process with their loved ones.
Consulting for Families. When it comes to the details of aging, many Canadians are left to their own devices to locate information and resources and navigate the process. Families need a ‘friend’ to help them both find and sift through the available opportunities of private and government-funded programs and services. The consulting program is offered at a very affordable package price or as A-La-Carte services.
Marketing and Business Development: Although many business and community owners understand their services, many are not marketers or experienced in working with seniors and their challenges. The Lifestyle55+ Marketing program offers to consult on business development, website creation, social media, content writing, advertising and more.
If you are in the seniors’ sector or require assistance for a family member, Lifestyle55+ Network Inc. can assist you, or your organization and they invite you to connect with them.
Esther obtained a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Toronto in 1986 and in Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) in 1990. She is a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Esther worked as a hospital social worker in the Greater Toronto Area for over 12 years, primarily with the geriatric population. A significant portion of her work involved counseling senior clients, and their families, about the difficult task of relocating to care homes, and assisting them with the placement process. Out of her own need for information about private sector services for seniors, in 1997, Esther created the book The Comprehensive Guide to Retirement Living and a few years later, the affiliated website, www.senioropolis.com. The publication became well-known and was often referred to as The Little Red Book where users could find answers to any question they had about retirement living and many of the homes in Ontario. The book was updated and recreated annually for 23 years. With the transition to www.SeniorCareAccess.com a few years ago, the scope of what could be provided online far exceeded the annual publication, so the last book was produced in January 2020. In 2021, www.senioropolis.com evolved into a new type of information site – one containing blogs and feel-good stories contributed by those in the retirement living sector - and the housing information it previously held, transitioned completely to www.SeniorCareAcess.com.
Esther was a volunteer member of the Stakeholders Advisory Council (SAC) of Ontario’s Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority for 6 years beginning in the Fall of 2013. At the end of 2016, Esther was appointed Chair of SAC, a position she continued to hold through the end of 2019 when her term on the Council ended. Additionally, Esther is a past board director of The International Breastfeeding Centre in Toronto.
Esther shares her knowledge through article/blog contributions, media interviews, and lectures/workshops on Senior Living Options and related topics at different venues including retirement homes, community agencies, and private organizations. Always an educator, she has been a social work student placement supervisor several times, has taught at the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Studies, and has been a part-time faculty member at Seneca College for the course The Retirement Home Industry - Overview and Skills in the Social Service Worker Gerontology Program. Esther is also the co-creator and co-instructor with Paul Cutajar, of the Lifestyle 55+ Affiliate and Master's training programs offered to professionals who work with, or who aim to work with, the senior population.
In 2019, Esther partnered with Paul Cutajar. With a shared vision of how to build on the unique services each of them offered the senior sector and those who work in it, they incorporated Lifestyle 55+ Network, Inc. and now offer a new level of service to professionals and consumers, through multiple unique platforms and programs.
Paul's journey in senior-focused services began with a successful 15-year career as a REALTOR®, during which he received numerous top sales achievements. After obtaining the Accredited Senior Agent™ designation, Paul redirected his focus towards assisting and consulting seniors in transition. Driven by a passion for specialized knowledge, he pursued advanced education to better serve the older adult population.
His dedication led him to become Canada's first MASTER Accredited Senior Agent™, a testament to his expertise in the field. Paul's commitment to person-centered care is evident in his various initiatives, including work in the W.R.A.F.T. program (Wounds Restraints, Abuse, Falls, Training) and his support for seniors with memory loss through The Ashby Memory Method™.
In 2019, Paul partnered with Esther to launch Lifestyle 55+ Network, Inc. and the www.SeniorCareAccess.com platform - Canada's first comprehensive digital marketplace for senior housing and service, bringing their shared vision and unique business ideas to life. This venture allowed them to expand their reach and impact in the senior care industry.
Recognizing the need for comprehensive education in the senior sector, Paul acquired and modernized the Accredited Senior Agent™ program. In 2022, he advanced this training into the Lifestyle 55+ Affiliate Program, broadening its scope to include any professional working with seniors. This program, along with the Lifestyle 55+ MASTERS certification, offers affordable, live online training to a wide range of Canadian service providers.
Paul continues to be instrumental in seeking out and partnering with resources that empower care providers and older adults, solidifying his position as a leader in the field of senior care and transition services.
